George H. Smith, a very good anarchist spokesman, republishing an excellent article on the philosophical reasoning for anarchy. It’s fairly long, and skipping over won’t help!
A culture, like an individual, has a sense of life or, rather, the equivalent of a sense of life—an emotional atmosphere created by its dominant philosophy, by its view of man and of existence. This emotional atmosphere represents a culture’s dominant values and serves as the leitmotif of a given age, setting its trends and its style. [The Age of Envy, 1971]. Just as an individual’s sense of life can be better or worse than his conscious convictions, so can a nation’s. And just as an individual who has never translated his sense of life into conscious convictions is in terrible danger—no matter how good his subconscious values—so is a nation. This is the position of America today.
An outstanding article from C. Jeff Small!+
Socialism is the doctrine that man has no right to exist for his own sake, that his life and his work do not belong to him, but belong to society, that the only justification of his existence is his service to society, and that society may dispose of him in any way it pleases for the sake of whatever it deems to be its own tribal, collective good.
Sorry to resend this, but had to republish because of a slip-up which changes the URL

I posted this originally today as a comment, here slightly enhanced, to: http://web.archive.org/web/20081029164630/http://digg.com:80/2008_us_elections/November_4_2008_Will_Be_A_Day_Of_Reckoning? We have had quite enough of OpEd-type diatribe. I am going to use the word communism here, but want readers to understand that Left, Liberal, Socialist, Fascist, Progressive, Communism are merely different straws on the broom. One leads to another, never does […]
I believe this to be the most important blurb I’ve ever written. I have submitted this to Digg, so help us all, both at Digg It!, and have the courage to comment here at Morality101. I am very disappointed that Ron Paul abandoned us today, telling us to ‘vote no’ by voting for any other […]
