No Government, No Force

Month: September 2014

HOW MUCH 1 DOLLAR USED TO GET YOU

e.g. In 1913 One Dollar bought 4 POUNDS of sirloin steak — Today that Dollar will buy 0.18 pounds of the same steak. That is one of several examples of what happens when our Rulers made our Dollar Fiat.
It won’t take you long to take a look, but it’ll probably take a long time to absorb the real impact on your savings and your life.

The Libertarian Case Against Public Schools

This means that the federal government should not be involved in any way, shape, or form with the education of anyone. No Pell Grants, student loans, federal regulations, research grants, Elementary and Secondary Education Act, teacher-education requirements, Department of Education, teacher-certification standards, school accreditation, Title IX mandates, educational vouchers, No Child Left Behind Act, school breakfast or lunch programs, Head Start funding, bilingual-education mandates, busing to achieve racial desegregation, Education for All Handicapped Children Act, diversity mandates, Common Core, presidential visits to schools, standardized-testing requirements, special-education mandates, math and science initiatives, Race to the Top funds, or Higher Education Act.

Since conservatives regularly support most of these things, there is a world of difference between their criticisms of public schools and the consistent and principled criticisms offered by libertarians.

Imperial Statism Rules the World

Almost all human beings have been so totally cut off from our natural world and enslaved in these ways that they have come to take their prisons and concentration camps for granted as natural and good for us, just as maximum security prisoners become so enslaved in their steel and concrete prisons that they dread being let loose in the world beyond the razor-tipped walls and the machine gun towers.

Almost all human beings are literally insane in this way and think their insanity is the only sanity and the only way mankind can live.

An Unhappy Summer for Liberty

Locally and nationally, we live under governments that prefer to rule rather than to serve, that choose not to tell us the truth but to keep it from us, and that have enacted laws that purport to make their behavior legal.

In 1949, when he wrote “1984,” Orwell predicted all this, including the secret torture, the perpetual warfare, the continuous spying and the fear of the government. His predictions were right on the mark — he was only mistaken by 30 years.
