Charley Reese’s final column for the Orlando Sentinel…
He has been a journalist for 49 years.
He is retiring and this is HIS LAST COLUMN.
Be sure to read the Tax List at the end.
Roger McKinney: “In my view, the “Number of Laws” chart above says it all! this is indicative of this (and probably every) GOVERNment. This applies to everything of GOVERNment, which uses Laws not only about our Health-Care, but about anything and everything. We the People are so overwhelmed by that vastness of “The Law” as to find it impossible to wholly understand or even to know about!
We worship “The Rule of Law” no matter what those “Laws” might be. We are allowed to “vote” for whomsoever the Dem-Rep Monopoly might choose as our Rulers, who seems to feel their “duty” is to Regulate by “making Laws”. There is little or no concern for whatever the Constitution might permit, and even less consideration for the moral premise included in “thou shalt not steal”, for our Rulers have the powers of taxation; IOW They are allowed to steal.
There is this strange sense of pride in being a “citizen” irrespective of that We as Citizens are merely Subjects of the Rulers and the “System”. We have no Role in the Balance of Powers, yet are subject to Their “Justice System” as it’s whims determine “for Us”.
How Is this a good way to run our Railroad?
[Janet Yellen, now chairman of TheFed] has decided … yes, She has decided that a 2% inflation rate is just the answer to our economic troubles. And She has also decided that zero interest rates are here to stay for a while. Yes, She has decided and She has spoken. Praise unto the Federal Reserve Chairperson.
BORN TO BE FREE We have always wondered how it must be to live under a dictatorship. We talk about freedoms, we excoriate those who would be dictators, we even fight wars to free others from the oppression they are under with a tyrant leading their countries. We in the US have become a […]
Let me show you why the plunder of Cyprus is probably one of the most
brilliant acts of wholesale theft the world has ever known, why the
stolen treasure may be thousands of times greater than has been
suggested, and why the names of the victims, and the full value of the
loot, will remain a mystery forever.
In the days of wooden ships and iron men, colonial empires pillaged
entire populations. At sea, independent traders, merchantmen, privateers
and pirates (broadly, those who operated without paying tribute to to
one crown or another) were masters at avoiding the powerful warships of
unfriendly nations. Of great importance in this effort was knowing which
flag to fly, when, in order to avoid capture.
INTERESTING NEWS came out of the Internal Revenue Service on 22 Jun 2011 ..
CAIR has LOST its 501(c)(3) /TAX-EXEMPT/ Status .. for violations of the reporting requirements ..
Here’s what is missing .. and why they lost that status ..
— “Under a new federal law, effective starting for tax years ending on or after Dec. 31, 2007, if an organization fails to file either Form 990-N, Form 990 or Form 990 EZ for three consecutive years, its tax-exempt status will automatically be revoked”
— “The annual reports include financial information on donations and other sources of income, operating expenses and names and payments given to directors and key staff members.”
(NOTE: The CAIR Foundation won exempt status in 2007 and then never filed any annual reports)
Therefore .. by NOT filing these reports .. CAIR Was automatically PURGED from the list of Tax-Exempt Organizations ..
(AND .. more importantly … DONATIONS to CAIR is no Longer Tax Deductible despite what their website states!)
Our country was founded upon freedom from oppression. Are we still free from oppression? How oppressive are taxes? How oppressive are laws defining behavior? How oppressive are dictates by Presidents and agencies that are not representative of the people’s wishes? Is America actually a free country.
“And we can see the positive impacts right here at Solyndra. Less than a year ago, we were standing on what was an empty lot.But through the Recovery Act, this company received a loan to expand its operations. This new factory is the result of those loans.”
