No Government, No Force

Free People Claim Their Rights

[updated 9 Nov 2015]

Michael  Boldin’s Tenth Amendment Center has produced a video which puts forth a more correct and relevant viewpoint about natural human rights versus the customary view that government somehow “owns” Rights and therefor can “decree and grant” human rights.  He strikes at the root of distressingly common philosophical and practical error.

Boldin’s comment on YouTube nails it:
“Your rights are yours by the very nature of your birth. You have them whether a document or a government says so or not. And while governments at every level will always work to limit or destroy your rights, it’s up to you – and others – to defend them.
How to do that? Thomas Jefferson had what I believe to be the most important advice on this front:
“A free people claim their rights, as derived from the laws of nature, and not as the gift of their chief magistrate.”

  1. Seems that few are alert enough to grasp the difference between “having rights” and actually claiming/insisting and taking Action to effect their rights. Sign of the times?
