No Government, No Force

Voluntary System: Police

Our purpose here is not to attack or put down the police or their departments.  While it’s true that there are both good-guys and bad-guys, that’s true about all humanity.

Rather, this post, and many others to follow, are to help folks understand how things will work without government, IOW when we have a truly Voluntary System.

Most everything is based on the primary Principle; Sovereign Individuals (everyone) have first the Right to Life, Liberty, Happiness, Property and Prosperity.  Along with that necessarily includes the right and responsibility of Protecting that essential basic Right.

The first line of that protection is Self-Defense, which of course does not extend to intruding upon these same and “equal” Rights of anyone else. The expense of whatever means used to self-defend are not paid by government taxes and edicts, but by the sovereign individual in accordance with his own best judgement and ability.  As no government exists, there are no “taxes” for anything, thus humans have all of their own resources to acquire whatever they might want.

Beyond that would be actions such as “Neighborhood Watch”, a voluntary and unpaid effort of people who care and loosely band together to accomplish.  Similar, but at some cost, are gated subdivisions with varying levels of security.  Some may have only a key or gate-code, while the best security would include securely fenced perimeters, armed gate-guards, and who knows what else!

Yet another alternative to government police is simply retaining a Private Security Company, using the money which no longer is usurped by government taxation.  Perhaps some danger exists that such Private Security Company might turn to behaving like Mafioso, but such companies in a free market should be quickly competed out-of-business, ya’ think?  Surely this covers only the edges of the issue, so feel free to comment to add more!

  1. I’m not concerned with anyone crushing anything here, but please stick to the subject of posts, please.

Anarchy, aka Voluntary (without GOVERNment), holds the promise of true Liberty, in which no Rulers hold the powers of Force over those of us who comprise the vast majority of the populace, real human beings who prefer to live and let live.

GOVERNments have nothing, except whatever they can steal from the people it purports to “serve”… our lands, our money via taxation, and the very assets we work to acquire and apply toward our “happiness” and prosperity. Our very Right to Life requires sustenance to maintain, yet men form governments with the powers of Force used to detract from and sacrifice our Right to Life.

If/when governments cease to exist, to be expected when their overwhelming debts make them bankrupt and “out of business” in the coming Global Great Collapse, then who will make the Wars? Think about that!

  2. I see a couple of bumps in the road, how do you finance an army, we will need one and volunteering to get shot for no pay is not realistic. Everyone paying for an army is essentially back to taxes. This will also have to work for the police and fire dept, and realistically I don’t see that working.

also I have little faith in leaving the country to rich people, they are the reason we are in such bad shape now, everyone is trying to increase profit margin, that means cheap labor and cheaper materials, this is why you cant buy an appliance that works longer than 10 years, when before they lasted 30 years.

I would also submit that it is big business that runs our country now, either with campaign money, or straight out bribes. I believe this volunteer system will lead to the rich man crushing the poor man, just like now. I will refer you to the new golden rule, those with the gold make the rules.

Private enterprise is not a viable answer, for one reason or another when people get rich they lose all sense of decency, this is why alternative energies are taking so long to establish, they cannot compete with the oil companies that are trying to stop it. Big companies will crush the small competition until they disappear leaving only the extremely wealthy left.

The problem with the world is man, he has no control over greed, and power. and if big business takes over we will be in a worse mess then we are in now. We will see the start up of sweat shops all over again, but this time the people will be broke, and going on strike will be an impossibility. poor people will end up at the poverty level, while the rich keep taking.

I hope you can handle some criticism, I was not trying to crush your idea, but I hope you realize there are many issues with this system that will need to be addressed. If America is going to get behind something that can actually make a difference, it will need to be very understandable, and without flaws.

    1. No-Government is not a “system”.
There is thus no “entity” with the power of Force over all human beings.
Without governments there will be no “taxes”, and no batch of a Ruling Class.

Without governments who will make Wars? Bankrupt entities have virtually no means of playing War.

If a truly free people, who are thus paying ZERO taxes, sense some need to have and support a defense, those can contribute whatever they wish to some Defense Organization, and the former tax-monies would be available to support their cause.

As things stand under the the government systems, free markets are constantly “regulated” and interfered with, using the tax monies now being stolen from real people.

I realize you made more statements, but how are those relative to the Subject here?

  3. Other than places such as your hometown in Texas and a couple of hamlets from my own past, it’s quite impossible to imagine stores and etc shutting down, which doesn’t occur unless it becomes a ghost town. Otherwise those places selling needed goods or services will stay open unless it cannot longer be profitable. Yes, sometimes governments arbitrarily might shut them down, but that’s not the norm, is it?

But if the town has people, stores will be there to sell something. Perhaps some of it’s people would join together to buy the old store, or to build another. In this day and age, very few people might manage to escape “society” and survive in the outback without supplies and services. That kinda ended back in the days of the caveman!

Since government (fiat) money will be worthless, let’s expect that banks or other businesses will create new forms of “money”, but that must be secured, not fiat, or it won’t be acceptable to anyone.

  4. I LOVE the concept of Voluntary System. I understand and agree with what you have stated. But those are easy things to do/have until we get down to the people who don’t have the financial capability of hiring their own protection, to build their own roads, to provide their own water and sewer. We KNOW in advance there will be people who are not capable of fending for themselves. What do we do about that? What about those who can afford some of what you suggest, but needs a brief helping hand financially. What happens to them in a voluntary system. I think everything must be planned down to the last period before actually going all our for voluntary. Much as I love the idea, I think there are tall hills to climb to make it work for society as a whole. Like, ambulances – they would have to be paid for their runs. What if too many patients are incapable of paying? What would be the rule re such? Ditto, seeing doctors and dentists. I’m not arguing against voluntary – I am anxious about getting it right before trying it.

    1. Let’s just face the situation of today, which is that the American is flat bankrupt. See our Source Link for “The Debt Clock”, showing not only the “National Debt” but also the “Unfunded Future Liabilities” which is many times more and shows that item as over $1 million per taxpayer. Government claims somehow that the “citizens” owe all this debt, despite that not any of us were either asked for our permission nor did we sign a note agreeing that we are somehow responsible! Such violates every word of common law regarding “contracts” — there is no valid contract!

So this situation makes incurable default inevitable, whereupon this GOVERNment is outta business, no more employees to write back checks being paid out to anyone for anything to anyone. The doors will until ??when and what?? The federal Government will quite suddenly simply cease to exist, and many others will quickly follow! So then the ripple-effects begin, and the governments of States, Counties and Cities, each being nothing more than a sub-government, having no alternatives, can be predicted to join the fall.

The absence of government and rulers is the entire definition of Anarchy. This becomes immediately a planet of Free People, with no obligation to any Ruler nor being forced to pay taxes, so our income belongs entirely to ourselves. No longer having anyone to tax/steal roughly half their earnings, those assets and monies are now freed to buy any formerly “government services” from any private person or entity — OR NOT!

More and newer PRIVATE businesses and associations will quickly form to fill the gap, all via free market capitalism in free competition. Remember, it will be the now-free People joining together to get accomplish their perceived desires and needs. The unbelievers who deny this will happen will be unprepared for their own survival, and will thus become criminals seeking to steal survival from the responsible. It will take only a very few months to see those get their minds right or otherwise they’ll simply perish.

Self-defense of life and property will be the order of the day — it’ll not go on long. Beyond that, there are already all sorts of private security companies already available, and surely there will soon be more with more vigorous and creative options.

The same will be true as to ambulances, fire departments, and any other of government’s supposed “services” via taxation. Yes, these considerations will be best made before collapse and Voluntary happens. That’s part of what we seek to do here on No-Ruler!

      1. Know what I think would be a good idea (or NOT, based on how one feels at any given time)? Wouldn’t it be great if we could set up the same scenario that we may very well be seeing for real before too much more time has passed. Have a village that has had all stores, service stations, shut down. No one there to tell people what to do. Let each family fend for itself or come to a joint decision with other families to band together to get done what needs doing? Could such a thing possibly be done realistically?
