THE DEATH OF A NATION
It’s as though I woke up one morning to find I was living in a foreign country, one that was questionable, one that was so different than the one I went to sleep in. It was most unsettling. How did this happen?
Of all the issues we face today, the “how did it happen?” is the easiest to answer. The United States of America slowly but surely changed from the nation it had always been to a snarky, slippery, amoral nation. This was accomplished by the political left who deceptively touted the “goodness” of certain things, like abortion on demand, like hate crime legislation, like taking Christ out of Christmas. Unfortunately, this was a ploy totally unexpected by the political right which was not prepared to combat it. The political left’s normal modus operandi is to play dirty. The political right was not schooled in dirty tricks to the degree the left was.
Every mealy, snarky program put forward by the left was defended by use of the word “compassion” as compared to the right’s “cruelty and meanness”. In other words, the left kept the right on the defense constantly, and in so doing, got multitudes of wasteful and unconstitutional programs in place merely to redistribute income from the haves to the have nots so that they will in turn vote for the leftist who steals for them. Americans are generous people and never object to helping people, but that has become America’s Achilles Heel. Once helped, too many people then begin to feel they are entitled to that help and more. To get elected and stay in office, the leftist politicians offer them more and better – so is it any surprise those receiving that largesse vote for the person who is handing out goodies? Especially when he has been told the opponent is a horrible, cruel, greedy person? These people who make welfare their living, pay virtually no attention to politics and believe anything anyone who will continue their payments tells them to believe.
Once a populace learns it can vote itself benefits, its government has an expiration date stamped in cement. Less than half our citizens pay income taxes – this means essentially that those who DO pay taxes are paying for the nation’s operations, the livlihood of the other half, all wars we are in, lavish lifestyles of our elected officials, foreign financial assistance – EVERYTHING the government does. There may be some place this would seem fair, like in liberals’ minds, but in reality it is abominable and despicable. Those who are the recipients of the others’ largesse can – and DO – dictate to the taxpayer.
Now, on top of everything else we have to suffer because of a narcissistic President who does not follow the Constitution, nor any of the rules re Separation of Powers, etc. He railroads his wishes, bypassing the powers who represent the citizens, he quibbles about necessary action, he sees to it that his friends (donors) are favored with his largesse of OUR money, he and his wife flit around the world constantly while many Americans can afford to buy only one gallon of gas at a time. Their trips cost millions of dollars and a neighbor of mine buys one gallon of gas at a time. Their trips cost millions of dollars yet they insist on redistribution of money with which to provide “universal health care”, a real belly laugh, because it will help virtually no one and will harm many and has already harmed many businesses.
To make sure he leaves no stone unturned, our President, on these trips, makes sure he insults as many of our foreign friends as possible while bowing to thugs in the Middle East. He is an extreme embarrassment. Perhaps understandable as he doesn’t really identify with Americans or the American way of life. How he became President is highly questionable, but somehow it happened, with the entire news media covering for him, and with his election came the coup over our government. It has been co-opted by the Progressives and is being run like a tyranny. He and his crowd of thugs WILL have socialism in our country no matter what.
Our Constitution has provisions dealing with this, but is ineffectual in this instance. It provides for impeachment, but the House does the trial and the Senate sets the punishment. The Senate at present is ruled by the President’s Party and would give him nothing more than a slap on the wrist and the contempt for America would continue. We have the courts, but in these cases, average citizens don’t have “standing” to sue, and Congress is too scared to do anything about him. We have been cheated out of every legal and non-violent way to get this person out of office and settle the left down and bring it back into the fold of a representative government. Until that happens, I don’t consider myself living in a representative government by any stretch of the imagination.
I could write for years without saying all that needs to be said, but won’t. Let me end with these thoughts:
For in reason, all government without the consent of the governed is the very definition of slavery. (Jonathan Swift)
Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys. (P. J. O’Rourke)
Government “help” to business is just as disastrous as government persecution… the only way a government can be of service to national prosperity is by keeping its hands off. (Ayn Rand)
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. (George Washington )
If human beings are fundamentally good, no government is necessary; if they are fundamentally bad, any government, being composed of human beings, would be bad also. (Fred Woodworth)
